Why can't holidays last longer?

I really wish that we had more then one day off from work for the 4th of July. It just wasn't enough time especially if you have more then one family that you want to share the time with on the holidays. So what I was thinking was that the new rule for holidays should be a mandatory two days off and sometimes three. I know you are thinking, well how is this going to work for people like the banks and stuff who have to be open a certain amount of time? Well this is what I think we should do in those situations, one you give everyone the option to work a mini shift so they can still have most of the day off. Two-you let people pick the holidays they want to work and don't want to work. Because there are some holidays that are more important to me that I would want off and others that are not so much. Anyways this would be my plan of course I am not a business owner and I doubt that my boss would even agree with anything that I am saying but I just thought that I would give it a shot. I really just could have used another day to recover from the holiday if you will. Anyways at least it is Thursday which means the weekend is almost here. Which would also be great if I didn't have to work on Saturday but what do you do? Oh well, last Saturday for the rest of the month so that is nice.
